Aged Cross on Back

by Glenna Garcia on February 17, 2011

While this image was listed without much explanation as to it’s meaning or inspiration, it serves as another example of how shading can really make an image come to life and feel almost 3D – like it is sitting above the skin.  The leaves are very life-like and layered expertly.  The cross is weathered and aged and looks like it’s seen its share of battles.  The edges of it are worked nice and the cracks have depth.  Not sure why it’s so beat up – but perhaps only the client knows.  Overall great shading and soft edges make this cross and leaves come to life.
