This dragon, while very well done, caught my attention because of the awesome 3D effect achieved through the use of shadow. The dragon really appears to have alighted on her back and the details included by J Runin, the artist, help this piece to stand out. While a little color would have made the dragon pop a little more, the layout and placement capture the ferocity of the dragon. The wings, head and claws show movement. One wing has sort of ‘caught hold’ and flows over onto the shoulder a bit. This adds to the over all 3D effect and helps the piece to come alive. Well worth 12 hours of work to achieve.
