This is a wonderful rendering of the Dali Elephant. Tattoo copies of well known art can really work when they are done right. It takes a certain amount of skill to be able to reproduce the lines and feel of another artists vision, and getting it to look right on the skin is no small task. Especially when the original artist was known for their details and painstaking intricate images. Dali certainly packed a whole lot into his paintings, calling them his “hand painted dream photograph”. Yeah, that’s a tall order! This Dali Elephant tattoo was a piece of either one of two paintings. It was seen in both “The Temptation of St. Anthony” and “Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening”. Whew! That was a mouthful! This elephant has an obelisk on his back and is most noticeable with those long, spidery legs. There is plenty to look at with this tattoo, because the tattoo artist did a wonderful job of recreating the small details that really make this image interesting. Everything is there…and the shading adds a great dimension to the piece.
